Everyday traffic seems to get worse on our roads. How can we reduce the number of cars on our roads today? What alternatives can we offer car drivers?

You should write at least 250 words.

Model Answer

Traffic congestion is now becoming a global problem. It is undeniable that the automotive industry has blessed our lives with many comforts, but this blessing proved to be in disguise in the face of traffic congestion. The high volume of vehicles, the inadequate infrastructure, and the irrational distribution of the development are the reasons for increasing traffic jams. There is a myriad of reasons for the increase in traffic. They are an increase in the number of cars for the roadways, double parking, road work, lane closure, road narrowing down, and blockage. There are some other reasons like traffic signals sync out, inadequate green time, too many pedestrian crossings, and not permitting cars to take a turn.

There are many alternatives to handle the aforementioned issues and to avoid congestion. They are fewer cars and trucks on the road, an increase in mass transit options, and road repairing work at night. As far as accidents are concerned, we need to prevent them. Once they occur, traffic congestion is unavoidable. It is necessary to build a pedestrian overpass and more lanes in the street. People should use carpooling instead of taking each car to public places.

In conclusion, the government should encourage people to use public transport or vehicles of small size such as bicycles or make tax on private vehicles. Traffic congestion should be controlled if checked strategically and impose wisely. Government and its citizen with their cooperation can overcome this problem in a better way. Let’s make our city clean and green.
